Alicante

Alicante is one of the most sun-soaked destinations in Spain and a perfect place to take part in Spanish life which includes beach life, food and outdoor terraces. The monumental trees in the central parks and the abundant palm trees along the harbour gives the city an essential  harmony framed by the castle overlooking from above. The port is the home of jaw dropping luxury yachts and here you find excellent seafood restaurants and vibrant night life.

While under rule of the Romans the city was known as “Lucentum” which means “City of Light”. Somehow the romans noticed that even the sun has a favourite spot on the European continent.

Alicante is also a terrific base for excursions to: Isla de Tabarca, Villajoyosa, Benidorm and Guadalest.

Penny for Ania’s thoughts on the city:

Alicante always gives me a holiday feeling. The port, old town filled with small restaurants and coffee shops and white beach, it always brings back memories to when I was young and travelled with my parents.

Alicante as a destination for our groups has 2 major advantages – good prices and a microclimate which allows you to walk in short sleeve t-shirt basically all year around! So if you think about a sunny destination for February – Alicante is your place!

Penny for Elin’s thoughts on the city:

Alicante is a well know holiday destination for many Norwegians, but the city also has great opportunities for groups. You can find centric hotels with great meeting capacity and it’s easy to organize team building activities on the beach, near the port or in the city center.  If you want a little bit of island calm, I recommend taking a boat to the “pirate” Island, Tabarca, and by all means, try local wine and sweets, which taste great. Alicante is often described by the locals as Spain’s greenhouse, and when I go, I always order a salad, to finally get that real taste of tomato. Definitely not a place to ignore if you’re into shoes, somehow, I always manage to find extra room in my suitcase for another pair.
